March 11th - Early Release Day

March 25th - Report cards e-mailed home.

Look at what we will be learning next week:

Math - Learners will continue to identify pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters by their value and describe the relationships among them.  We will also be working on math projects for open house.

Click here to sing along while learning about coins.

Math Activities to do with your child at home or while driving in the car

  • Ask your child to describe a penny, dime, nickel and quarter.  Skip count while counting a group of coins.
  • Generate story problems about family members.  For example, Mom went to the store and bought some cookies.  She ate a half a dozen cookies in the car.  Now she has 10 cookies.  How many cookies did mom have in the beginning?  :-)
  • Practice counting to 120 by ones from any given number.
  • Practice counting to 120 by tens from any given number.
  • Practice counting to 120 by fives.
  • Practice counting to 120 by twos.

Language Arts  -

Reading:   We will talk about choosing efficient reading strategies when we read while concentrating on reading the whole time.  We will also finish up our assessment with this group of sight words.  I am checking the second list for the third nine weeks of school.  If you need another copy of the words, please let me know.

Writing:   We will continue our look into persuasive writing and how to persuade others through the writing process.

Spelling  Spelling is back!  We will be looking at words with the /ow/ spelling sound.

Social Studies  -  We will identify examples of choices families make when buying goods and services.

Science -  We will demonstrate that air is all around us and observe that wind is moving air.

Miscellaneous Information From Your Teachers

*Please remember to send your child's Ipad to school every day.  Also, please make sure that it is charged every evening as we do not have chargers at school for the Ipads. Thank you!!

*As the weather turns colder, please remember that we will still be going outside for recess.  District policy states that if the "feels like" temperature is above 32 degrees we will be going outside for some fresh air.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriate for recess weather.  Also, please write your child's name on the tag of their jacket.  Names in the jackets help keep them out of lost and found!

*We have a short snack time each day. It is important that they have a healthy and nutritious snack each day to fuel their bodies. We also ask that the snack they bring is completely free of peanuts/tree nuts. This will help provide a safe environment for all learners. Also, please make sure that your child's water bottle has a "spill proof" cap.  Thank you for your help!

*TCE's counselor is Kelly Matlock.  She can be reached at kmatlock@coppellisd.com.

Volunteers
If you anticipate volunteering on campus at all this year, please click here.  A new form must be completed each year.

Birthday Treats

Birthday treats brought by students must be store bought, have its ingredients listed, and run by the nurse before given to students.  It is recommended that the treats are individually wrapped and nonperishable treats that are easy to pass out. 😊 Birthday treats will continue to be passed out at the end of the day to be eaten at home.
