October 25 -29


 Calendar

October 25th - 29th - Red Ribbon Week.  The school will be dressing up each day to promote staying drug free. 

  • Monday, October 25th - Wear red clothes and sunglasses
  • Tuesday, October 26th - Dress up in your favorite team attire
  • Wednesday, October 27th - Dress in silly or mismatched socks and hats
  • Thursday, October 28th - Dress in cozy clothes or pajamas
  • Friday, October 29th - Dress as a storybook or movie character.  Make sure your attire is appropriate for school. :-) 
November 7th - Mrs. Sork's Birthday

November 22nd - 26th- No School for Thanksgiving break

Look at what we will be learning next week: 

Math -  Learners will continue to compose and decompose a number up to 100.  We will continue to recall addition and subtraction math facts using our math strategies.  

For example 54  can be decomposed as the following:  

  • 5 tens and 4 ones
  • 4 tens and 14 ones
  • 3 tens and 24 ones
  • 2 tens and 34 ones 
  • 54 ones

Play " Guess My Number"

  • I am thinking of an even number.  It is greater than 17 and less than 19?  What number am I thinking?   
  • I am thinking of a number.   It has 2 tens and 3 ones.  What number am I thinking? 
  • I am thinking of number.  It has 1 ten and 15 ones.   What number am I thinking? 

Practice counting to 120 by ones from any given number.  

Practice counting to 120 by tens from any given number.  

Practice counting to 120 by fives. 

Language Arts 

        Reading:  We will continue our study of the second group of snap words and continue to use strategies to read words even if they don't follow a pa

        Writing: We will clarify our writing by making sure we have clear topic sentences and closing sentences.

       Phonics/Spelling:  We will learn about silent /e/ and how it makes the vowel /a/ make the long sound. 

Social Studies - We will learn about national and state patriotic symbols, including the United States and Texas flags,  the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty,  and the Alamo.

Science -  We will demonstrate and record the ways that objects can move such as in a straight line, zig zag, up and down, back and forth, round and round, and fast and  slow.

*Please remember to send your child's Ipad to school every day.  Also, please make sure that it is charged every evening as we do not have chargers at school for the Ipads. Thank you!!

Red Ribbon Week is October 25-29. 

We celebrate National Red Ribbon Week in honor of Enrique Camarena, a fallen DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Agent, who risked his own life in the battle against illegal drugs. The Red Ribbon is a symbol used to help us remember to make healthy choices for our bodies and to "say NO to drugs!"  We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 25th-29th with the national slogan Drug Free Looks Like Me. 



St. Ann's Catholic Church Thanksgiving Baskets 

Every year St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Coppell provides Thanksgiving baskets with supplies to cook a turkey a dinner to those in need. If you could benefit from this assistance, please click on the link below and fill out the Google form as accurately as possible. By completing this form you understand this information will be shared with St. Ann’s Catholic Church for distribution of your basket. Please fill out this form no later than October 25th, 2021. Birthday Treats

Birthday treats brought by students must be store bought, have its ingredients listed, and run by the nurse before given to students.  It is recommended that the treats are individually wrapped and nonperishable treats that are easy to pass out. 😊 Birthday treats will continue to be passed out at the end of the day to be eaten at home.
